Lewis felt a hand grab his arm as
the ladder fell from his grips and onto the five zombies below, he looked away
from them, and turned his head and looked up to see Connor barely holding onto
Lewis with both arms, Connor had wrapped his legs around the steel bars on the
railings, Lewis slowly climbed up Connors tensing arms, both boys strained
their arms as Lewis lifter himself up onto the steel fire exit safely, both
Lewis and Connor rested their heads against the bars trying to catch their
breaths back, “why... why did you do that?” Lewis asked breathing heavily,
“well, I wasn’t going to let one of my mates die like that now was I” Connor
smiled at him, both boys giggled, “thanks bro” Lewis said helping Connor stand
up, “anytime mate” Connor winked, both boys started to walk up and around the
steel stairs up to the roof where the others were all stood on the other side
of the roof, Lewis and Connor looked at each other before running over to them,
“what’s going on?” Lewis asked standing behind the group who were all staring
up to the sky, “look, over there” Rob pointed forwards, in the distance there
were three small black objects in the sky slowly moving towards them, “holy
shit, there probably the napalms” Lewis said in fear turning around, “I don’t
know, if it is were fucked to say the least, but it don’t look like any napalm
I’ve ever seen before” Herbie said not taking his eyes off the objects, “and how
would you know what a ‘napalm’ thingy is?” asked a confused Megan, “I’ve played
enough war games in my time to have some recollection of their appearances”
Herbie said proudly with a short smile. A few seconds passed and the objects
had gotten closer and clearer to see, “quick everyone wave your arms in the
air” Rob shouted aloud putting his arms into the air swaying them side to side,
“why?” Ritchie asked putting his hands up, “It’s some kind of distress signal
or some shit, I seen it on Bear Grylls TV show before” Rob continued, so all of
them raised their arms and started jumping around trying to catch the attention
of these flying objects. A few second’s past and the three flying objects
became easy to identify, “their military helicopters” Herbie said excitedly
holding his hand over his eyes trying to reduce the glare from the evening sun,
the sound of the helicopters propellers grew louder, they all started jumping
around and shouting “over here!” , “help us!” the middle helicopter began to
approach the rooftop slowly, it hovered just above in front of the teens, it
turned sideways and the large, heavy turret gun aimed straight at the group,
“oh shit” Lewis said with his lip trembling under his breath in fear as he
gazed up to the turret which began to spin violently... to be continued?.

Teens & the end of the world Chapter 33
Connor drove the yellow sports
car right up to the group, he didn’t bother to stop the car, he just leapt out
“oh my god Connor, where did you go?” Megan
asked, there was an awkward look between Lewis
and Connor, “there’s no time we gotta go like now!” he shouted, then from back
by the jeep came a very large group of the undead groaning loudly sending
shivers down their spines, “quick this way!” Ritchie shouted running around the
side of the large shopping mall, the undead following them like lost dogs, they
ran around a tall brick wall at the corner of the mall, they saw a large, steel
fire exit leading up the side of the large mall, Lewis jumped for the first
ladder which hadn’t been pulled down, but he couldn’t reach, “quick Ritchie get
on my shoulders and pull it down!” Lewis said turning round to him, before he
could say a word Herbie practically picked him up and placed him on Lewis’
shoulders, Ritchie reached up and unhooked the ladder and a loud clashing sound
was made as the ladder fell and hit the ground, Ritchie didn’t bother to get of
Lewis shoulders he just quickly jumped onto the ladder and climbed up, Lewis
quickly moved out the way and pulled Lily towards the ladder and she looked him
straight in the eye with fear before she hurried up the ladder, next went
Megan, Grace then Bella , Lewis looked at Herbie and Rob “Dudes, come on there
just over there!” he shouted to them, Herbie sighed heavily “don’t be a hero
mate, please” he continued to climb the ladder, Rob just behind, Lewis and the
doctor stood watching the large crowd of undead sprinting towards them, “come
on hurry up!” Lily shouted from over the edge of the railing leading up the
fire exit stairs, Lewis and the doctor looked at each other, “go, I caused
this, It’s my fault, now It’s my job to fix it” the doctor said pushing Lewis
onto the ladder, Lewis turned and looked at him slowly walk towards the raging
crowd, “come on then!” he shouted, his voice grew dark, he started to sprint
towards them, Lewis looked in horror as the doctor ran straight though into the
crowd of the undead, they all lost sight of him, until a loud scream that could
have curdled milk was heard from the crowd, they could see the odd splash of
blood squirt out of the crowd, then a few of the undead in the crowd noticed Lewis
still at the bottom of the ladder, they started to sprint towards him, “oh
shit!” Lewis murmured to himself before shooting up the ladder, the others had
already continued to the roof of the large mall, Lewis got near the top of the
ladder where the others were stood at first, but Lewis felt a sudden shake on
the ladder, he looked down to see five or six undead zombies tugging at the
ladder furiously, Lewis suddenly heard a clicking sound to his left, he noticed
the screw that nailed the ladder the steel fire exit was coming loose, he
continued to climb even though he was swaying side to side, suddenly another
click was heard and the screw had come clean out the socket, leaving the ladder
and Lewis hanging on to the fire exit by a thread, Lewis was hanging on for his
life until he felt one last tug that ripped the ladder clean off the rails.
Teens & the end of the world Chapter 32
The four boys reached the
entrance to the cafe and all ran over to the sofa’s where the girls and the
strange man were sat, they all sat down on the third sofa watching the old man
slowly sit up, “wha... What’s going on?” he asked with a gravelly voice, “dude,
you were like, in one hell of a crash, but don’t worry your safe here” Rob said
leaning forward trying to figure out what the man was doing there, “oh right,
yeah but wait how are you still alive?” the strange old man asked sitting up
straight, “let’s just say we got lucky, and now answer our questions, who are
you?, and what’s going on?” Lewis
interrupted, “I’m guessing you’re not from around there” he said looking at the
girls nodding their heads left to right, “I’m doctor Chester Davenport, I was working
on the new vaccination when it backfired...” “Wait stop, explain what you mean
by it ‘backfired’?” Lewis interrupted him scratching the corner of his head,
“well, for the past few decades we have been experimenting with a new and
improved vaccination for Diphtheria, Polio and tetanus and we came across a new
set of ingredients that would be easier to supply and only needed to be used
once, and not every ten years, at first we put in a certain amount of this new
ingredient and ten 15 years later, it proved a success, so we doubled the
dosage, and it once again proved a success, so we put in 10 times more than the
original to give immunity to a human for one hundred years, but before we had
tested this there was a mix up, and the new improved vaccination was given to
all doctors around the country, but it was too late to do anything, by the time
we realised it was deadly, wait how did you not get given a jab?” he asked,
“well we were skipping school at the time” Ritchie said still fully interested
in what he was saying, “yeah and we were at a cheerleading tournament” said
Megan, “oh I See” the doctor said scratching his chin, “what was that new
ingredient?” an intrigued Ritchie asked, “I’m afraid that top secret at the
moment” the doctor said confidently, “okay then what has it done to all those
people?, like how are they turning into the undead?” Rob asked holding his
hands out, “well in the new ingredient there are certain substance that
destroys the polio and tetanus cells, but with the large increase in the dosage
it destroyed ninety-five percent of the immune system, leaving the body full
vulnerable to the weakest of diseases like the common cold, the disease then
kills the human within days even hours, then the new ingredient somehow brings
them back to life, we didn’t have time to test this due to the outbreak” no-one
took their eyes off of him whilst he talked, “so what’s with the burning
streets and stuff?” Herbie asked, “oh my god! I forgot, we have to get out of
here! There sending napalm’s over the worst infected areas, wait how did you
get in?” The group looked around at each other, “we drove through the big
gates, what does it matter?” Lewis
said confusedly rubbing his forehead, the doctors eyes widened in fear, “you...
you broke down the gates?! Did you not see the padlocks? “Well yeah, but we
needed food and supplies” Herbie said standing up still looking at the furious
doctor’s face, “that’s what was keeping them in you idiots! Now there’s
thousands of those things everywhere! and how did you survive the napalm?” he
snapped, “well, there was smoke before we got here, there has been nothing big
since then?” Herbie said sitting down on the table, “oh my god, what time is
it?” he said rolling up his sleeves looking for his watch, he pulled back his
right sleeve to reveal a dark gold watch, “oh my god it’s four o’ clock!” he
said standing up quickly, “yeah so?” Lily asked watching him walk around in a
circle rubbing his mouth, “there are three napalm strikes heading across the
country, the first at twelve, the second at four twenty-five and the third at
seven fifty, we don’t have time to get out of the city, we need to find a safe
place like now!” he exclaimed rushing out of the cafe, the other’s followed
just behind, “what?!, you mean that they’re going to burn this whole place to
the ground, just like that?” Rob said hurrying next to him, “well, there was
supposed to be hundreds of the undead here, but you let them free didn’t you”
He sarcastically said to him, the doctor headed towards the toy shop, and he
went straight down the escalators, the other’s all followed quickly behind, “so
how do we get out alive?” lily asked on the bottom step of the escalators, “well
we should get underground but I don’t know how to” the doctor said stopping in
his stride, looking around his surroundings of the bottom floor of the large
shop, “come on, it’s not safe in here, it’s one of the main landmarks of this
city” the doctor said running for the exit, the other’s ran closely behind,
they reached the red pick-up truck, “come on quick” the doctor repeated, he
held his arm out helping the girls jump over the bonnet, then the boy’s leapt over
and stood on the other side helping the doctor over the bonnet by pulling his
arms as he lifted his legs over, then from the distance they could see a yellow
sports car skid around the corner past the big skip and the jeep, It was
Connor.
Teens & the end of the world Chapter 31
Lewis and Herbie walked out of
the toy shop, Lewis was juggling three multi coloured balls from the ball pit,
they both joining grace who was knelt down and gently slapped the old who was
still led down at the top of the escalators on the face, “come on, wake up
already” she said standing back up, “where’s the other’s?” Lewis asked throwing
one of the balls at Herbie hitting him on the head, “oh there over in the cafe,
but Rob and Ritchie haven’t come back yet” She said rolling up her sleeves,
“come on herb, I need a drink and something to eat, let’s take this guy with us
just in case he wakes up anytime soon” “yeah okay” Herbie agreed, both boys
once again picked up the thin old man and followed Grace closely, they walked
around the left hand side of the toy shop onto a wide path leading up towards a
large cafe, they carried the man past the sports shop on the left and then past
the jewellers on the right, they entered the cafe to see the girls sat on the
one of the three dark brown sofa’s in the bottom corner of the room, “I made
you a coffee” Lily said jumping up holding out a cup with a big smile on her
face, Lewis smiled at her and walked to the empty sofa and him and Herbie
dropped the man onto it, “thanks” Lewis said walking back over to her and
taking the cup, Herbie had run back out the cafe and over towards the sports
shop, “I wonder how long them two are going to be, they’ve been gone for ages”
Bella sighed, putting her legs up on the table next in front of her, “don’t
worry, If I know them two, and I do, they’re probably just screwing around with
a few straying zombies” he laughed as he took a large gulp of his drink, “hey
Lew!” Herbie shouted poking his head around the door of the sports shop; Lewis turned around and looked down at Herbie, who
was spinning a white football on his index finger, “sweet!” Lewis said to
himself, Herbie suddenly dropped the ball and kicked it down the wide path
towards Lewis who was stood in the doorway of the cafe; Lewis controlled the
ball with his right foot and stopped it on the spot, he knelt down and put his
coffee cup down on the floor and started to jog down towards Herbie whilst
kicking the ball at the window’s of the shops he passed, he approached the
entrance to the sports shop doing a few kick ups with the ball, he suddenly
noticed a very short zombie limping, which was facing towards the left at the
end of the wide path next to the toy shop, Lewis’ eyes suddenly opened wide, he
scratched his chin and thought to himself for a moment, he suddenly ran with
the ball to the centre of the wide path a few feet back towards the cafe,
“Herbie! Quickly throw me some more footballs!” Lewis
shouted at the sports shop, “what? Why?” came Herbie’s voice from the shop,
“just do it quick” Lewis laughed, Herbie ran up to the small white box
containing ten to fifteen footballs in, he picked up about ten of them, two at
a time, and kicked them all over to Lewis, He managed to round them all up, and
laid them out in a row across the wide path, “Herbie quick come here” Lewis
shouted to him stepping back from the balls putting his hand on his forehead
wiping the sweat off, “what is it now... oh shit!” Herbie said noticing the
crippled zombie slowly making his way towards him, Herbie ran up to Lewis who
had lined himself up with one of the balls, “what are you up to?, you know
there’s a zombie like right there?” Herbie said catching his breath, Lewis
winked at him and ran up to the ball and kicked it with the inside of his right
foot and it nearly hit the crippled man but it skimmed past him, “oosh, so
close” Lewis said putting his hands on his head whilst winking at Herbie, He
just looked at Lewis and said “dude, let me try!” excitedly, so both boys lined
themselves up behind a ball and they both kicked their footballs at the same
time, they both missed by a few feet, “wow, we suck” Herbie said lining himself
up again, “yeah” Lewis agreed running up to another ball and kicking it, this
time it hit the crippled man in the right leg causing it to fall to the floor
with a snapping sound, both boys just laughed at its attempts to stand back up
but fell back down every time, “ha, come on lets kick the rest of these balls
and put him out of his misery” Herbie said kicking the ball he was stood in
front of, Lewis picked up the last ball and volleyed it as far as he could down
the path, “yeah come on then, let’s find something to kill it with, like a golf
club or something” Lewis said as he walked by Herbie’s side towards the sports
shop, when suddenly a white ball came flying back hitting Lewis clear in the
leg knocking him to the floor, laughter could be heard from the distance, “what
a shot, mate” Ritchie said high-fiving Rob, “ouch you silly twat” Lewis laughed
as Herbie pulled him up, “where the bloody hell ‘ave you been silly bollocks?”,
“and what the hell are you wearing?” Herbie asked as Rob and Ritchie approached
them, “Oh my god mate, they just kept coming there were thousands of them, too
many to count, we were stuck in some geeky comic book shop for ages, hence the
geeky spider-man jumper, before they all passed” Said Ritchie as he took off
the light red jumper throwing it on the floor, then from behind them came a
call, “quick! Guys come here he’s waking up!” Lily
shouted down from the cafe, all four boys looked at each other before sprinting
to the cafe.
Teens & the end of the world Chapter 30
The tall woman let out a loud
screech, Rob and Ritchie sprinted towards the yellow skip, they both approached
it and looked inside to see the others led down with the old man still passed
out on top of them, “guys get the fuck outta here!” Lewis
furiously whispered, “Okay okay, chill your bean, well meet you in that shop
its clear, OH shit!” Rob said as the
group of undead got within a few feet of him, he ran straight after Ritchie who
had fled a few seconds earlier, “wait up silly bollocks” Rob
shouted as he chased after him, the others just led down holding their breaths
watching the heads of the passing undead limp past. A few moments passes when
there was pure silence, Lewis shoved the old man to the one side and peered
over the edge of the skip, “come on its clear, help me get this guy outta here
herb” Lewis said jumping out and leaning in and grabbing the old man’s
shoulders, the girls jumped out of the skip and helped lift the man out with
Lewis, “thanks” Lewis said to them, “now come on quick let’s get him inside
before more of these things come around” Herbie said looking over his shoulder,
the girls ran over to the red truck and walked around to the front of it where
the top half of the impaled zombie had crawled towards the middle of the truck
and was grasping the air, trying to grab hold of the girls legs, “oh my god,
that’s vile” Bella said cringing at it, “come let’s just get in here quick away
from it” lily said clambering over the bonnet, Lewis and Herbie hurried towards
the truck still carrying the old man, “for a skinny guy, this guys bloody
heavy” Lewis sighed flopping the old man up against the truck, “right ill jump
over, and then you pass him over okay?” Herbie said lowering the man’s legs
down, Herbie leapt over the bonnet in one quick jump, Lewis lifted the man’s
top half onto the bonnet and then lifted the his legs slowly over the end of
the bonnet where Herbie grabbed his white lab coat and dragged him over, the
man’s unconscious body fell off the bonnet onto the floor in front of Herbie,
“oops, shit sorry” Herbie said squinting his eyes at him, “stupid twat” Lewis
murmured as he leapt over the bonnet, “come on dickhead, let’s get a move on” Lewis
said rubbing his hands together, both boys bent over and picked up the old man
and started to carry him down past the shops and towards the escalators where
the girls were sat waiting for them, “come on ya big girl’s” Lily said as the
girls giggled at them struggling to carry the man, “I’d like to see you carry
this guy this far” Herbie sighed catching his breath, “hey guys, come check
this out” came Megan’s voice from the top of the escalators, the girls ran up
after her leaving Lewis and Herbie holding their hands up, “thanks for the
help” Lewis sarcastically said turning around to pick up the man’s shoulders,
Lewis and Herbie slowly carried the man up the escalators, they reached the top
to see a large, bright light shine straight into their eyes, they both dropped
the man in admiration at the entrance to a very large and colourful toy shop,
both boys looked up and gazed at the wonderful sight before them, “we’ve hit
the jackpot” Herbie said excitedly, “you can say that again” Lewis smiled, both
boys looked at each other and then sprinted into the very large toys shop. They
ran through the entrance straight down the middle aisle, it led to a very large
square ball pit full of multi coloured balls, with two sets of stairs leading
up either side of it to a glass balcony that hung over, Lewis and Herbie
separated and ran up either sides stairs and got to the balcony, “I just had
the best idea ever” Lewis said with his eyes opened wide, “quick follow me” he
continued, he turned around and continued to walk down and end aisle which had
bikes and skateboards on, “dude grab a board” Lewis said kneeling down and
picking up a black skateboard, Herbie looked up the aisle and found a red
skateboard with a yellow lightning bolt down the middle, Lewis and Herbie then
ran back towards the balcony and Lewis grabbed the end of his skateboard and
swung it at the middle of the glass balcony smashing it into pieces, Herbie
looked at him and said “oh I get it, this is definitely the best idea we’ve
ever had”, both boys ran down the middle aisle behind them, they reached the
end and threw there skateboards down in front of them, “you ready bro?” Lewis
asked with a big grin across his face, “let’s do this” Herbie winked, both boys
turned their heads back towards the balcony in the distance, they both put one
foot on their skateboards and pushed with their other, they gained as much
speed as they could, they reached the balcony and they flew straight off the
edge, they both fell through the air with their skateboards flung across the
shop, they both landed in the ball pit and large splash of multi coloured balls
scattered everywhere, both boys revealed their heads from underneath the balls,
“oh sweet dude, that kicked ass!” herbie said high-fiving Lewis, “you done
playing now? You bunch of baby’s” Grace
said with her hands on her hips at the entrance, “killjoy” Lewis sighed as walked back out of the ball pit.
Teens & the end of the world Chapter 29
The four boys watched in horror
as hundreds and hundreds of the undead, who were all huddled together tightly
due to the high number of them, they were limping and hurrying towards them
rapidly, “holy shit” Lewis said as his eyes widened, then from the entrance
came a voice, “come on dickheads what are you waiting for!” Megan shouted to
them, the boys turned around sprinted for their life’s, the large crowd of
following undead weren’t far behind, the four boys pushed and shoved each other
out the way trying to get through the revolving door, “guys stop! One at a time
or its not gonna work” Rob said panicking, so Lewis went first then the other
three followed in single file, they got back outside they could see the girls
heads poking out of the yellow skip, “quick over here” Lily shouted waving her
hand, the four boys ran as fast as they could over to the skip and jumped in
next to the girls. They all watched as the large crowd of the undead fumbled
and forced their way out of the revolving door, “I’ve never seen so many of
them, they just keep coming” Ritchie said poking his head over the top of the
skip, “yeah I know, It’s scary how many of them there are” Herbie agreed, they
stared as the undead went separate ways, until a large crowd of them headed
straight towards the skip and the road, the group all led down flat in the skip
as the groaning undead walked past them down the road, “oh my god, what’s that
stench?” Rob whispered holding his
nose; “if I had to guess, I’d probably say it’s the rotting flesh of the undead
passing by” Lewis whispered
sarcastically, Rob gave him a stern
look of disapproval. After a few minutes passed the groaning quietened, the
group looked at each other and nodded, and Ritchie slowly raised his head and
had a look around, he could see two undead still walking around inside the
revolving door, “It’s clear apart from two of them still in the door” Ritchie
said tapping Lewis on the shoulder, they all stood up and slowly lowered
themselves over and out of the skip, “why are they burned?” Herbie asked
looking across the path at the two badly burned undead men, “yeah must be
something to do with the smoke we saw earlier” Rob said staring at the undead
men who were continually walk around and around the revolving door, “so what’s
the plan, we can’t go back out” Megan said looking back towards the knocked
down gates where the large crowd of the undead went out, “lets clear those two
things out the door and go inside and look for some useful things we could use
or need” Lewis said scratching his head, “and how do you plan on getting rid of
those two?” Bella asked looking at him, “well, that’s easy” Herbie said
smiling, him and Lewis started running up towards the two zombies, when from
the left came a long, old, dark red pick-up truck came flying into to entrance,
impaling both undead men into the side of the large shop, leaving Lewis and
Herbie staring at the smoking red pick-up truck. Lewis and Herbie snapped out
of there shock and ran up to the truck and opened the passenger door, Lewis
leant over to the driver’s seat, Lewis could see a very thin old man with
bright white, short hair, he was wearing a long white lab coat, Lewis grabbed
hold of his coat and called to Herbie, “dude, help me out here!” Herbie got in
with Lewis and helped pull this old man out by his legs as Lewis grabbed his
shoulders, they lowered him to the floor and placed him a couple of feet away
from the car, the others rushed over to help, “oh my god is he okay?” Lily
asked looking at Lewis, “I don’t know, he’s out cold” Lewis replied, “he looks
like a doctor” Rob said tilting his head slightly to the left looking at the
unconscious man, “quick go check if it’s clear inside, we have to get him safe
in case any of the undead come back” Lewis said sitting this man up under his
shoulders, Rob and Ritchie ran over to the red truck which was smoking from the
bonnet, the truck was blocking the entrance, they walked over to the front of
the truck where one of the undead was still impaled against the wall, Rob
approached it and suddenly the impaled zombie groaned and reached out his arms
and a pool of blood poured out his mouth, Rob got closer to it and as he reached
further the top half of his body peeled of the bonnet and onto the floor in
front of Ritchie and Rob’s feet, Rob reacted quickly and kicked It in the head
and jumped over it and skid across the bonnet of the truck into the large shop,
Ritchie stared at the top half of the zombie still squirming on the floor to
his left, he quickly followed Rob over the bonnet, they both ran over to the
corner of the shop and looked around the corner sharply, but there was no sign
of life anywhere, so they ran over to the escalator and ran up them onto the
second floor, where they looked around and it was clear, they ran back down the
escalators and back out towards the red truck, they clambered over the bonnet
and jumped over it, they ran back out onto the large path where they left the
others, but there was no sign of them anywhere they looked at each other in
confusion then they heard a sudden sloshing sound to their right, they turned
to see a tall woman with blood and froth bubbling around her mouth, she was in
front of a large group of undead also frothing at their mouths, the two boys
froze in fear.
Teens & the end of the world Chapter 28
As the large dark green jeep
headed up through the road that had large trees overhanging, everyone looking
out the nearest windows admiring the beauty that was surrounding them, “amazing”
Rob said leaning out his window, “shame the rest of the world has gone to shit”
he continued, “dude, gay” herbie said looking at him with a smile, he turned
his head forwards to see the slanted hill had became straight, it started to
slowly go downhill, the woodland surrounding them had faded, and from the top
of the road they could see for miles, they could see a large city which could
be seen right to the horizon, through the middle was a large trail of smoke
leading all the way across the city, some of the larger buildings had smoke
coming out of the higher window’s, “holy shit” Herbie sighed staring at the
city, “what the hell went on here?” Rob
asked, “well lets go find out” Lewis
replied slapping Ritchie on the head, “ouch, what the hell dude are you
crazy?!” Ritchie snapped, “just look at that place, It’s totally fucked!” he
continued, “well, we gotta check it out at least, I mean what have we got to
lose, there could be others there” Lewis said looking over Ritchie’s head to
Herbie and Rob in the front, “yeah, screw it” Herbie said smiling and rapidly
turning around and slamming down the acceleration, He drove furiously down the
road towards the city, “well, do we have a plan or are we just going in there guns
blazing like a bunch of idiots?” Megan said holding on to her seat, “well yeah,
we are a bunch of idiots” laughed Herbie, “yeah, were the ones who mess around
every day and get lucky on our tests” Lewis said laughing at Megan, “oh, I see”
she replied with a worrying look on her face, Herbie reached the bottom of the
road, they passed a large sign on the left, on the corner it had red graffiti
that read ’12:00 - 4:25 – 7:50 Rob read it aloud, “welcome to Tiraana, the

got up close to see there was a large padlock which had other smaller padlocks
that were locked around it, “great” Herbie sighed rubbing his hand across his
forehead, “oh stop being such a bitch, god” Lewis said fumbling his way out of
the back of the jeep, he got out and walked up to the big black gates and stared
at the large gold padlock, he held it up towards him, the chains attached to it
clattered together, Lewis let go of the padlock and jogged over to Herbie’s
door, “dude, it aint budgin’, your gonna have to ram it” Lewis said looking
back at the gates, before anyone could say anything Herbie slammed his foot
down on the acceleration and sped furiously towards the gates, He hit them with
full force, a large clashing sound was made as he knocked down both gates and
they landed on top of the back of the jeep before falling to the ground. Lewis
ran up to the fallen gates and carefully manoeuvred himself over them, he
approached the jeep and opened up the boot door, and jumping into his seat to
see everyone in the back holding their heads in pain, “and you wonder why I got
out” Lewis laughed at them, “shut up” Grace sighed looking at him in disgust,
Lewis just continued to giggle before clearing his throat, “well, are we gonna
just sit here like planks or are we gonna go find some help?” Bella said
brushing her hair back, “oh yeah, right, of course” Herbie said looking forward
and starting the jeep again, he drove on down the road, with large clear
buildings on both sides, there were cars on fire and flipped over all over the
road, Herbie was finding it hard to dodge them, “whatever went down here was
big” He said whilst thinking about how to get past the cars, “I don’t think
this was such a great idea, I mean they wouldn’t lock the gates like that for
nothing surely?” Grace said looking out the window at the destroyed cars, “well
we can’t go back now” Rob said, Herbie approached a large opening from where
the road ended, he pulled up on the kerb next to a large yellow skip, “end of
the line dumbass’s” Herbie said looking back before stepping out of the door,
the others soon followed, they walked onto a long, wide white road like path
leading towards a very large, transparent glass shop that was at least
two-hundred feet tall and as wide as their eyes could see, “wow, I would have
killed to have came here before all this shit happened” Megan said gazing up at
the stunning sight in front of her, Rob and Herbie looked at each other and
rolled their eyes with a sigh, “come on girls” She said, her voice filled with
excitement, she and the other girls rushed off towards the entrance, all the
boys juts looked at each other and sighed heavily, “I had enough of this before
the end of the world” Ritchie said pouting, “yeah I know how you feel” Herbie
said putting his arm around Ritchie, “come on, let’s not let them go too wild”
Lewis said walking up towards the entrance. The four boys walked up to the
large rotating door’s, and walked through them one following the other, they
could see two large clothes shop on both sides of them, “oh god, were going to
be here forever” Rob sighed looking at the shops, they walked down further into
the store they could see two large escalators leading up to the next floor, but
before they got near it the four girls came sprinting around the corner with
large white bags around there arms, “oh shit, not good, not good!” Lily said sprinting furiously past the four puzzled
boys, the girls sprinted out the entrance, leaving the four boys looking at
each other baffled, they jogged up to the corner of the clothes shop, and all
of their jaws hit the floor, rendered speechless with fear at the sight before
them.

Lewis was still groaning loudly
in pain, covering his nose which was leaking blood all over his shirt and
hands, the other’s rushed over to him, “dude, are you okay?” Rob asked squinting at Lewis ’
blood covered face, “well, I can’t breathe out my nose” he sighed, sitting up
removing his hands revealing his nose to the group, “oh shit!” Herbie said
covering his mouth in shock, “what?” Lewis
said wiping the blood of his hands onto his t-shirt, “oh dude, your nose... its
kinda... well fucked?” Herbie laughed, Lewis
looked at him in pure confusion, “what do you mean?” he asked standing up,
“um... look in the mirror” Lily said pushing him gently in the shoulder towards
the side wind mirror, Lewis bent over and looked into it, “Holy shit!” he said
tapping his nose very gently, for his nose had the bone poking at the skin it
hadn’t gone through it but it was near, “wha.. What do I do” he said turning
around and looking at the others for help, there was just blank faces staring
at him, “okay” Lewis continued gently tapping his nose, “Herbie, come here and
punch me in the face, from left to right” He said wagging his finger towards
Herbie, “what? , No way, what the hell bro?” Herbie said walking backwards,
“dude, come on I can’t leave it like this, please? You did spill the beans on
us?” he said, “oh come on that’s not fair, don’t play the guilt card” Herbie
sighed, Lewis looked at him and raised his eyebrow, “oh for god’s sake” Herbie
sighed walking up to him, “so how do I this” Herbie said rubbing his hands
together nervously, “just a quick jab, from the left to the right” Lewis said
tilting his head back, Herbie rubbed his eyes, he then quickly swung his left
fist towards Lewis still bloody face, a large moan was heard from both Herbie
and Lewis, “Ouch that hurt me never mind you” Herbie said holding his fist
tightly against his stomach, “ow,” Lewis screeched holding his nose, “Oh my god
you punch like a girl, it didn’t work!”, “oh my god, get out the way” Megan
said pushing Herbie out the way, she walked up to Lewis and put her hands on
both sides of his nose and pushed aggressively until a loud clicking sound was
heard, “ouch!, son of a bitch!” Lewis screamed, “there all better, now stop
being such a bitch and lets go get Connor back” Megan said walking back over
towards the jeep, Bella and Grace looked at each other both eye brows raised
and their jaws on the floor with a slight smile, they both rushed into the jeep
with Megan, Herbie also followed around the left side into the driver’s seat
still clenching hid fist, Lewis still dazed, he was approached by a laughing
Lily, “well, It could have been worse” she said holding his hand, “really?
How?” Lewis smiled, “well maybe not” She giggled, they both walked over to the
jeep and jumped in the back two seats in the boot, “Here” Lewis said helping
lily to her seat, “thanks” she replied with a smile, Lewis slammed the boot
door down, “come on lets go get the fat bastard” Lewis said with a smirk on his
face, “well, where do you think he’s headed?” Herbie said looking towards the
back of the jeep over his shoulder, “you know him better than we do, you should
know?” Grace said looking around shrugging her shoulders, “I would have said
burger palace” Rob laughed, “yeah” Lewis laughed, “well, let’s just continue
and look for any signs of where he might of gone” Lewis said looking down at
his blood covered top, “sounds like a plan” Herbie said turning the keys
starting the jeep, “my parents are dead” Ritchie said without moving a muscle,
“what?” Bella said looking across at him, “there all dead, all of our parents”
he said again, “you can’t think like that, surely not mate” Rob said looking
back over his shoulders at him, “yeah, you aint said anything in hours, and now
you come out with this shit, it’s not worth stressing about” Lewis said tapping
him on the shoulder, “yeah well, I’ve been thinking, and I mean come on what
are the odds?, there dead let’s just face the facts” Ritchie said resting his
head on the window next to him, Megan, Grace and Bella who were all squashed on
the middle row with Ritchie all looked across at him, “and It’s most likely we
won’t survive long either” Ritchie continued opening turning the handle on his
door opening his window, “look, nothing’s going to happen to us, we’ll be fine,
I promise” Lewis said looking towards lily and smiling, she only had a look of
fear in her eyes, Lewis stretched out and held her hand, “I promise” he said
winking. After a while of driving, Herbie slowed down when he reached a split
in the road, one leading up left towards another road surrounded by woodland,
and on the right was the road continuing down the motorway under a large
bridge, “Which way do we go?” He asked resting his head on the head rest,
everyone in the back peered through the front windscreen, “well,” Lewis sighed,
“I say left, only because it’s bound to lead to like a town or something, but I
don’t mind, you decide” he continued sitting back on his seat, “yeah lets go
left” Bella said pointing towards the road surrounded with woods, “we can
always come back right?” Megan said
holding her hands out, Herbie and Rob
looked at each other in the front and both shrugged their shoulders, Herbie put
his foot down on the acceleration and headed up the road on the left.

The dim light of the sun shone
over the horizon in the early hours of the morning, Connor yawned loudly
awaking Rob who was sat next to him, Rob slowly opened his eyes, he wiped the
drool of the side of his mouth, “your awake at last lazy bollocks” Connor
laughed, “best night’s sleep I’ve had in a while” Rob smiled, “you mind if we
stop?, I need to stretch my legs” Rob continued sitting up rubbing his eyes,
“yeah sure, you mind driving after?” Connor asked slowly stopping the car,
“yeah whatever bro” he said opening his door and stepping out, Lewis was just
behind and he stopped his car, Lewis stepped out and walked over to Connor who
still sat in driver seat, “everything okay bro?” he asked, “yeah, just needed a
break is all” he said resting his head on the head rest, “oh okay mate” Lewis
replied, he walked back banging on the windows of the car, “come on wake up, ya
lazy bunch of pricks” he said smiling, everyone in the back suddenly shot up,
“Lewis ya twat, I was comfy there ya know” Megan said stepping out the door,
Lewis suddenly realised Herbie was still asleep in his sports car, he ran back
over to Connor, “yo dude check the glove boxes a sec, I have an idea for a
laugh” He said smiling, Connor sighed and gave him a look of confusion, and
reached over to the glove box and searched through them, “there’s only a few
bingo cards and a ball point pen?” Connor said still scrounging through it,
“yeah gimme the pen quick” Lewis said reaching through the window, He passed
him the light blue ball point pen and Lewis rushed off to his car, he walked
over to the sleeping Herbie and took the lid of the pen, he started drawing a
huge Hungarian moustache on his top lip, when he finished that he drew a
connection from both his eyebrows making a long dark mono-brow, he struggled to
hold his laughter in trying not to awake him, he walked around the car and
opened the boot of the jeep, “hey Lily do me a favour and wake up Herbie will
ya?” Lewis asked trying to hide his laughter, “Why have I got to do it?” she
asked, “just trust me” Lewis laughed, Lily looked at Bella in confusion, Bella
just shrugged her shoulders, she jumped out and walked over to the sleeping
Herbie, “umm, herb’ I’ve been told to wake you up... oh my god” she said
bursting out laughing, Herbie suddenly awoke, “huh, oh” he said opening his car
door revealing his face to everyone else by the jeep, they all burst out
laughing, “what’s so funny?” he said opening his eyes wide, he didn’t get a
reply over the laughter, “come on someone spill the beans?” he said getting
more furious, Rob came over to him and bent over trying to catch his breath,
“dude, look in the mirror” he said bursting into laughter once again, He sighed
and walked over to the wind mirror of the sports car, “oh very funny, didn’t
know we had a comedian among us” He sighed licking his finger and wiping the
pen off his face, “sorry mate if was such a good opportunity for a laugh, and I
think we all needed it after what we’ve been through” Lewis said walking up to
him and putting his arm around Herbie’s shoulder, “yeah I guess it was quite
funny” Herbie giggled, “right, what’s the plan” Lewis said rubbing his hands
together, “well I think we should go off the next exit and get some food”
Connor said walking over towards the group, “yeah sounds good” Rob nodded his
head, “yeah okay, you can drive my car”
Lewis said throwing his keys to Herbie, he fumbles to catch them, “just look after
her okay, she’s a beauty” Lewis sighed turning around to look at him staring in
admiration at the keys, “oh.. yeah sure I know Lily
is.. you aint stopped going on about
that moment” Herbie continued turning around towards the car, completely
oblivious to what he had just said, “wait... what!” Connor shouted back at him,
then looked over towards Lewis , “dude,
let me explain...” Lewis tried to calm
him down but he was interrupted, “so it’s true?!” “look it was an accident, it
wasn’t planned or anything...” Lewis said quickly shrugging his shoulders and
put his hands out in front of him, “dude, you know I liked her, a lot actually,
and you persuaded me not to do anything about it!, you selfish dick!” He
shouted at Lewis , Lewis walked over to him and put his hand on his
shoulder, “look mate, I know it sounds bad but...” but before he could finish
Connor turned around and looked Lewis dead in the eye and then punched him
straight between the eyes, “thought u was my mate!” Connor shouted to Lewis who was rolling on the floor holding his
gushing nose, “ouch, shit!” Lewis
moaned in pain, the others just stood in be-wilderness, Connor stormed over
towards Herbie and snatched the keys out of his hands, and walked over towards
the sports car holding his two fists as tight as he could by his sides, “wait,
where are you going?” Rob shouted to
him, “I don’t know, and right now I don’t care” he said grinding his teeth, “well
you can’t just leave it’s not safe?” Herbie said jogging up to him, Connor
opened the car door and leapt in, all of them ran over to Connor in the car,
except Lewis who was still sat on the floor holding his face in agony, “don’t
do this” Bella said leaning through his window, “I’m sorry I can’t stay here,
not with that prick” Connor said tightening his eyebrows towards Lewis before
slamming his foot down and speeding of down the quiet empty motorway, leaving
the group to realise Lewis was still groaning in excruciating pain and they
rushed over to aid him.
Teens & the end of the world Chapter 25
Back at the jeep, Herbie and Rob were sat against the passenger door, just
watching Ritchie pacing back and forth the left side of the motorway, “what’s
wrong with him?” Herbie asked without taking his eyes off of Ritchie, “I think
he’s finally come to term with what’s going on” Rob replied also not taking his
eyes off him, “yeah I guess that’s it” Herbie said standing up, he walked over
to the unsettled Ritchie, he walked up to him and put his arms around his
shoulders and led him back towards the jeep, “It’ll be okay pal” Herbie
reassured him, Rob opened the back door and Herbie led Ritchie into the seat
and closed the door behind him, “he’ll be okay” Rob sighed, “hopefully” Herbie
replied walking to the back of the jeep by the girls, “you all okay?” He asked
them, “yeah were okay” Grace replied smiling, “But I don’t know what’s wrong
with Lily” she continued looking over her shoulder to see Lily sat on her own
on the metal railing leading up the side of the motorway, “yeah she’s been
there a long time” Megan said standing up and walking over towards Herbie,
“have she said anything to you?” Rob asked with his hands on his hips, “nope,
every time we go over there she hardly says anything, she just nods her head”
Bella replied sitting down under the boot roof, Then they saw Lily stand up and
put her hand over her eyes whilst she looked back down the road, “hey, there
back” she shouted, the other all looked down the road to see the front of a
yellow sports car speeding towards them, the yellow car slowed down as it
approached the group at the back of the jeep, “where the hell have you been?”
Herbie asked walking up the side of Lewis door, “we ran into a little trouble”
Lewis said pulling the keys out of the car, he jumped over the door, “we
managed to get two cans of fuel for you, we didn’t have enough time to get any
more” Lewis continued walking to the back of his car, he opened the boot and
picked up the two orange cans and passed them to Herbie, “nice job mate” He smiled,
before anyone could say anything else Bella jumped in, “where’s the baby?!” she
shouted, Lewis looked at Connor, “he wasn’t there” Lewis sighed looking at
Bella who had tears in her eyes, “but we found this on the table” Lewis
continued reaching into his pocket, he pulled out the note and gave it to Bella
she read it aloud, “so what does this mean?” Rob asked, “Well, I think we
should head for this meilleville place” Lewis said looking at Connor, “oh yeah,
right, here” Connor said pulling the map out of his pocket, he gave it to
herbie, “but it’s all the way on the other side of the map” he sighed, “how do
you know that?” Connor asked confusedly, herbie pointed to the large sign
above, Lewis and Connor stepped back, the sign read ‘port seldom 111’, “a
hundred and eleven miles you’ve got to be kidding me” Lewis sighed, they walked
back towards the group, “yep, but it’s said to be a safe place to live, so I
still think we should head for it” Lewis continued, “yeah me too” said lily
walking into the group with a smile on her face, “you seem to have cheered up”
Megan asked her, “oh I dunno, I guess I just feel better now” she said looking
at Lewis, “right... okay... I’m gonna go fill the jeep up now, then we’ll head
towards this place” Herbie said walking around to the side of the jeep, “I’ll
drive” Connor said walking towards the driver’s door on the jeep, Herbie passed
him the keys out of his pocket whilst he was pouring the fuel into the jeep, Megan
and Grace walked to the back door, they both jumped in, “wow, what’s with
Ritchie” Megan asked whilst moving over to the seat next to him, “We don’t
know, he’s been like that for a while, I was watching him a minute ago” Lily
said opening the boot door and sitting in the seat in the boot, Bella just
behind sitting on the seat opposite, Rob got in the front passenger seat next
to Connor, “okay, you’re ready to go” Herbie said throwing the empty cans away,
Connor nodded to him, “we’ll stop if anything goes wrong”, Herbie walked over
to Lewis in the sports car and got in the passenger seat, Connor started to
drive off, Lewis just behind him, “so rob told me some stuff” herbie said to
Lewis, Lewis’ eyes widened but he tried not to show it, “oh, and what’s that?”
he asked quickly, “your little incident with Lily” Herbie smiled and winked
nudging Lewis on the shoulder, Lewis put his head back and rested it on the
head rest, “really?, I made him promise he wouldn’t tell anyone the lying
prick”, Lewis sighed, “don’t worry I won’t tell anyone mate, but how was it?”
herbie asked, “how was what?” Lewis
asked smiling confusedly, “you know, how was she?” Herbie asked smugly, “dude
we only made out” Lewis laughed, “so
far...” Herbie winked. The darkness
covered the sky with a bright light from the moon which shone through the car
windows, meanwhile in the back of the jeep, Lily
was leaning on her arm smiling, “what changed your mood?” Bella whispered to
her, “huh? Oh nothing” she said still smiling, “yeah there is obviously
something because ever since Lewis and
Connor got back you’ve been happy... wait ... you have a thing for Connor don’t
you” Bella said winking, Lily looked at her ridiculously, “yeah, no that’s
definitely not it” she leant back on her arm, “if I tell you, you can’t tell
no-one okay?” she continued, “yeah I swear I won’t” Bella said crossing her
fingers, “its Lewis... we kinda have a thing for each other” she said biting
her lip, Bella looked at her in shock, “I knew something was going on” she
giggled, “yeah we have made out a few times” Lily said whispering, “but
remember you can’t tell no-one” lily continued, “don’t worry, I won’t” she
reassured her again, both girls giggled, “what are you two laughing at then?” Grace asked looking back towards them, Lily giggled looking at Bella who was still smiling,
“oh nothing” she said.

Lewis and Connor looked at each
other before looking back over the car to see where the undead men were, they
were stood just in front of the car limping closer to the boys with every step,
“slowly crawl around the car and into the shop, just until its clear” Lewis
said as the zombies approached the side of the car, Connor nodded and followed
behind Lewis, they slowly made their way towards the shop door, Lewis turned
around to see where the two men had walked to, they were about 30 feet away from
the car before they turned around, “quick get in” Connor quipped, he quickly
walked through the door, Lewis followed behind him but as he opened the door
the small bell above rang, “oh shit I forgot!” He shouted looking up at the
swaying bell, “you stupid dick!” Connor shouted, the two undead men turned to
see the frozen Lewis , they started
limping very quickly back towards the shop, “Quick grab something!” Lewis shouted as he ran down the end aisle, Lewis grabbed four large bottles of fizzy cola,
“quick take these!” Lewis yelled to
Connor, Connor looked at him as if he was nuts but without asking Connor took
the bottles from him and ran to the door at the back of the shop where the
trail of blood led, “come on!” Connor shouted as he heard the bell ring and saw
the two zombies walk through, Lewis ran down to the middle aisle where the
sweets were, Lewis quickly grabbed five packs of mints as the two zombies got
within a few feet of him, He suddenly ran as fast as he could into the door at
the back which Connor was holding open, “quick come on!” Connor yelped, he
quickly shut the door behind Lewis and both boys sat against the door
preventing the zombies from entering, the two undead men were banging furiously
on the door whilst groaning loudly, “why the hell did you give me those for!?”
Connor asked still holding the door back, “you’ll see” Lewis winked, the boys
looked around and saw that they were in a storage room full of extra supplies,
“there better not be any more of these annoying pricks in here with us” Connor
laughed. About 10 minutes passed both boys were still sat in silence against
the door, the banging had slowed until there was none at all, both boys looked
at each other, “do you think their gone?” Connor whispered, Lewis shrugged his
shoulders, he led down and looked between the gap in the door and the floor, he
saw to shadows still slowly walking around near the counter, “nope there still
there” he sighed, “where did you put the bottles to?” he continued, “over
there” Connor pointed to a small cardboard box with the bottled rested on,
Lewis moved them over towards the door and sat down, “what are you up to?”
Connor asked looking at Lewis, he reached into his pocket and pull out the five
packs of mint’s, he gave two of them to Connor and then he passed Connor two of
the four bottles of cola, “what do you want me to do?” Connor asked looking
puzzled at the bottles, “just put the mints into the cola and quickly tighten
the lids again” Lewis said opening his two bottles, so both boys quickly
emptied their mints into the bottles and tightened the lids, Lewis looked under
the door again to see the shadows in the same place, “right, start shaking your
bottles up mate” Lewis said picking up his two bottles, Connor still had a
confused look on his face but he started shaking both his bottles up, “when I
open the door, loosen your lid so it starts to fizz out okay?” Lewis asked,
“yeah sure, okay let’s do this” Connor replied excitedly, Lewis stood his two
bottles up next to the door and slowly opened the door, both boys quickly
reached down and slightly twisted the lids, the cola froth started to burst
out, “now pick them up and throw the lids down at the floor in front these two
clowns out here” Lewis whispered, Lewis threw open the door and before the two
undead men could turn around both boys threw all four bottles down in front of
them, causing the bottles to burst and a massive fountain of cola fizzed around
the shop, “Quickly this way!” Lewis shouted trying to co-ordinate his way
through the disorientating fountains of spewing cola, Lewis found the entrance
door with Connor close behind, leaving the two confused zombies inside
struggling to find their way out, Lewis and Connor ran over to their car and
jumped in, Lewis rapidly started turning the keys he started the car and drove
as fast as he could back onto the motorway, “dude that was awesome! Where did
that come from?” Connor asked excitedly, “ahh well I just seen some idiot on
the internet do it” Lewis laughed, “well wherever you got it from, it just saved
our arse” Connor laughed high fiving Lewis as he turned up the music as loud as
it would go.

OH shit!” Connor raged putting
his hands on his head and looking up, Lewis walked over to the table and picked
up the piece of paper, “wait bro, look it’s a note” Lewis said holding up the
paper, “ well, what does it say?” Connor asked, “well it says, ‘we have your
baby, he’s safe, we are heading for meilleville city, it’s said to have a safe
place where people can live, If you wish to have your baby that’s where he’ll be” Lewis looked at Connor
puzzled, “meilleville?, that’s French aint it?” he asked, “why you asking me?,
and do you actually think there is a safe place there?”, Lewis put the note in
his pocket, “I have no idea, but we might as well go check it out, we’ve got
nothing better to do” he sighed as he walked over towards the newsagents,
“where are you going?” Connor asked holding out his arms, “to see if I can find
out where this place is” Lewis replied
without turning around, “but Herbie’s already got a map?” Connor asked running
up to him, “yeah but I doubt meilleville is its real name it’s probably some
nickname or somethin’, and it won’t say that on the map”, “good thinking”
Connor replied following Lewis up the end aisle of the newsagents, he found a
stand that had lots of brochures and leaflets in, “see anything with
meilleville on it?” Lewis asked
flicking through the leaflets, “nope... oh wait look” Connor replied picking up
an orange leaflet, “it says ‘come to meilleville (wonder land) the city of jaw
dropping sights’, it must be some sort of zombie free zone if it’s true” Connor
continued pointing at a picture of a large building and a theme park, “turn it
over a sec” Lewis said pointing to corner of the leaflet, Connor turned it over
and there was a map on the back, above the map it read ‘located off the end of
the motorway, continue to port seldom’, “I knew it wasn’t its real name” Lewis
said reading the maps directions carefully, “well where are we?” Connor said
still staring at the map, “great, if we don’t know where we are how the bloody
hell are we supposed to find out how to get there?” Lewis
said putting his one arm on his hip and his other rubbing his eyes, “well,
let’s just get back to the others and sort it out then shall we?” Connor said
picking up another one of the meilleville leaflets and putting it in his
pocket, “yeah, come on then fathead” Lewis sighed turning around, “was there
any need for the insult” Connor asked catching up to him. Lewis
and Connor got back to the yellow sports car and both jumped over the driver’s
door and into their seats, Lewis
started up the car and reversed back out of the service’s and continued down
the motorway back towards the group. Lewis and Connor saw the large fuel tank
of the petrol station from about 100 feet away, “this beauty could do with
filling up, so I’ll fill it up and petrol can or two and you go and check out
the shop” Lewis said as he approached the turning into the petrol station,
“okay, you want anything?” Connor asked, “Nahh I’m good bro, just get some
stuff that will be useful” Lewis continued as he parked the car, both boys
leapt out of the car, Lewis looked around to see if he could find a gas
canister, he checked behind other parked cars before standing still and
scratching his head, “of course I can’t find any, nothings never that easy” He
muttered to himself, Connor walked into the small square shop, and opened the
door hearing a small bell ring above him, he looked to his left were he could
see a large refrigerator with lots of baguettes and sandwiches stacked in it,
he continued to walk straight past it and turned left to walk down a short
aisle with assorted sweets and chocolates either side of him, he walked down to
the counter were there was a old square cash register in the middle, he looked
over the counter to see a large collection of glass bottled filled with
alcohol, he reached his hand over to grab a bottle, “don’t mind if I do” he
said smiling to himself, but before he grabbed it he looked down to see a trail
of blood leading towards a door on the opposite side of the shop, the door was
slightly open, Connor went to go and check it out but he remembered Lewis’ wise
words from Herbie’s house to never go anywhere alone, so he slowly walked back
towards the exit, he noticed to his right a small shelf on the floor with gas
canisters, tyre irons and fuel cans, He picked up two orange gas cans and
slowly exited the shop without opening the door wide enough for the bell to
ring, “hey Lew, here ya go mate” he said passing the fuel cans to Lewis who was
filling up the sports car, he turned around “oh I was looking for those
everywhere” he said taking the cans, “yeah I was just at the counter, and I
noticed a large trail of blood leading into another room, you wanna check it
out?” Connor asked pointing over his shoulder to the shop with his thumb, “yeah
okay give me a sec’ to fill these up” Lewis replied pulling the nozzle out of
the sports car into one of the cans, a few seconds past and Lewis picked up the
two full cans of petrol into the boot of the car, when both boys could hear a
bell ringing, they both turned their heads to the shop door where two undead
men slowly walked out, both boys ducked down behind the back of the car out of
view of the two undead men, “shit! What do we do now?” Connor asked poking his
head over the car to see the two men slowly walking out the door, “we don’t
have enough time to start the car and put the roof down they’ll have us in no
time” Lewis said with a puzzled look, the both boys were left stranded behind
the car only within 30 feet of two undead men.

Ten minutes passed as the group
walked out the exit of the services, “so where we heading now” Ritchie asked
the group, “yeah shouldn’t we sort out like a plan or something?” Bella added,
“oh yeah, hold on a sec” Rob said as
he turned around and ran back into the services, “what’s he up to?” asked
Connor, “no idea, let’s wait for him on the jeep” Lewis
continued “who’s driving now?” “I’ll give it a try?” Ritchie said with no
confidence at all in his voice, “no you bloody wont, not after saying you’ll
‘try’” Lewis said to him, suddenly Rob came running back out the entrance with
a smug smile on his face holding out a large map, “nice, good idea” Bella said
smiling at him, Rob winked at Lewis, “can anyone read a map?” asked Ritchie, there
was just silence, “surely it can’t be that hard to work out?” Herbie said,
“I’ll drive and I’ll give it a try” so they all walked back over the jeep,
Herbie jumped in the driving seat giving the map a puzzling look, when Lewis
walked around the jeep when he noticed a yellow Ferrari spider parked around
the corner of the service’s, he quickly ran to Lily who was on the other side
of the jeep, “what I’m about to do next, make sure you don’t move or say
anything until I say, okay?” he said to her with a big smile, “um... okay?” she
smiled back confusedly, Lewis stepped back around the jeep, “oh sweet!” he
shouted “dibs on driving!” Lewis ran up to the yellow sports car admiring its
beauty, he looked opened the driver’s door only to have a dead corpse fall onto
his feet, he quickly kicked it off, everyone else but Lily ran over to see what
his shouting was aimed at, he reached in to remove the corpse’s arm that had
stuck to the wheel, he looked to see the keys still in the ignition, he threw
the arm straight out the door and jumped straight on the black and yellow
leather seat, he closed the door behind him, and as the other rushed and shoved
each other out the way to get in the passenger seat, Lewis pressed the lock
button that was dangling of the key, “hey what gives?” Rob
shouted trying to open the locked door, Lewis
rolled down his window, “so which one of you is joining me?” Lewis smiled with a smug look smeared across his
face, “oh oh me pick me?” they all shouted, “ok okay enough” Lewis interrupted their arguments, “the person who’s
coming with me is...” he said tapping the side of the door, the others watched
biting their lips in anticipation, “... Lily ”
he said pointing back to the jeep where she was stood, “what!” Connor shouted,
“Why the hell does she get to go with you!” Herbie continued, “Because my
dim-witted friend, she did not go crazy over a measly seat unlike you clowns”
he said winking at them, Lily had a big smile across her face as she walked
towards the yellow sports car, “that’s bullshit!” Ritchie shouted as he and the
other walked back to the jeep, “smooth” Rob winked at Lewis as he leant through
the window, “I thought so” Lewis winked back, “hey guys, check this out!” he
shouted to them, suddenly the roof slowly peeled back and rested at the back of
the car, “don’t rub it in you twat!” Connor shouted, Lewis
just laughed, Lily jumped over the
side door into her black and yellow seat, the others slowly hung their heads in
disappointment as they entered the jeep, Lewis
smiled at Lily , then slowly reversed
out following the jeep out of the car park and back onto the motorway. After
about 20 minutes of following behind the jeep Lewis noticed there was long
stretch of motorway that was clear of cars and Lewis looked at Lily and said
with a wink “hold on”, he turned on the CD player and turned up the music as
high as it would go and changed to the highest gear and sped up to the side of
the jeep, Herbie looked across to see Lewis holding up his middle finger and
Lily laughing, before Speeding up ahead of them as fast as he could, Herbie
grumbled under his breath in jealousy, “lucky bastard...”, the other were just
as grumpy in the back, then Bella looked up and held her hand to her mouth in
shock, Rob looked at her and asked “what’s wrong?, she looked back at him and
murmured “where... where’s the baby?” Herbie then suddenly slammed down the
breaks.

Lewis’ eyes widened, He shot up and
ran past the split cup of coffee, he heard multiple screams coming from the
females toilets next to the males, and He barged through the door to see the
old man banging ferociously on the middle cubicle door, He could hear Lily’s
screams from inside it, He looked around to find something to hit the man with,
but there was nothing around, so he ran up towards the undead man and speared
him to the floor, “run!” he shouted, Lily quickly exited the cubicle screaming,
she ran straight out the toilets, Lewis struggled to keep the man from trying
to bite him, the man Grabbed hold of Lewis shoulder’s and tried pulling him
towards his grinding teeth, Lewis was pushing himself away from him by pushing
his chest, Lewis suddenly used his whole body to launch himself backwards out
of the grasp of the zombie, he quickly shot himself up in a flash and ran
straight out the toilets with the zombie shortly behind him, he ran past the
corner of the coffee lounge when he heard a loud snapping sound, he turned back
to see Lily stood by the corner with her hands over her mouth looking down to
the zombie lying on the floor with a large chunk of a wooden stool in its face
which Lily had hit him with, she started to cry, Lewis rushed over to her and
held her against him, “shh, it’s okay” he comforted her, she continued to
whimper into his chest, “thank you” said looking up at him, “what’s going on?” Rob shouted with the rest of the group, they rushed
over to them, “ran into a little bother” Lewis
said still holding onto Lily , “well
are you okay?” Grace asked Lily pushing Lewis away, Megan and Bella surrounded
her asking the same question, “yep, it’s not like I saved her or anything”
Lewis mumbled under his breath as he walked back to the coffee lounge, “don’t
worry dude” Ritchie replied putting his arm over his shoulders, Rob,
Connor and Herbie followed behind. Everyone
sat around a small glass table, all of them had a plastic cup full of some sort
of hot beverage in their hands, “that brings back memories” Megan said taking a
sip out of her drink, “I told you I make a mean cup of coffee” Rob said with a
wink, She looked back at him and smiled, Bella was sat next to the baby who was
led down in her blue hooded jumper, “right I’m going to get something to do,
I’m bored shitless” Herbie said as he placed his drink onto the table, “yeah me
too” Connor continued “you coming?” he asked Ritchie and the girls, “yeah why
not, can you look after the baby?” Bella asked Rob and Lewis who were still sat
down, “oh, um yeah sure” He replied, “thanks” she smiled back at him, they all
walked across to the newsagents on the opposite side, Rob leaned himself
forward looking across at the girls walking away, “oh no, not you as well”
Lewis laughed, “what?” Rob asked
trying to hide a smile, “you like one of them don’t you” Lewis
grinned pushing him in the shoulder, “how did you know?” Rob sighed looking
down at his hands, “what, apart from the bit of drool dribbling down your chin”
Lewis replied laughing as Rob quickly wiped his chin, “shut up” he barked, “so
which one?” Lewis asked looking over to the newsagents, “Bella” he smiled
biting his lip, “Bella I think”, “you think” Lewis said laughing, “okay I know”
he replied picking up his hot drink, “dude, you go there, you can’t get
attached at a time like this, anything could happen” Lewis said lying down
across the sofa, “that’s rich coming from you” Rob said sulking, “yeah but that
wasn’t planned, it just happened ya know?”, Rob looked back at his hands, “yeah
I suppose”, “remember you can’t tell Connor!” Lewis said sitting back up and
staring straight at Robs eyes, “don’t worry, I won’t” Rob laughed standing up
stretching his arms out, Lewis looked at him with distrust, “good” He said
standing up, Lewis and Rob walked over towards the newsagents. Lewis and Rob
walked down the end aisle to see Ritchie, Connor and Herbie all stood in a
circle giggling like schoolgirls, Rob and Lewis looked at each other confused,
“what are you bunch of idiots laughing at now?” Lewis
asked walking towards them “hey dude look, boobs!” he opened the adult magazine
showing Lewis and Rob, “oh grow up ya dicks” Lewis laughed, He then walked
around the next aisle, looking at the DVD’s, Connor followed him around and
tapped him on the shoulder, “look bro, I know what you said and all but, I
think I really like her, and I’m gonna go for it” he said excitedly, Rob
overheard his excitement and looked at Lewis taking a big gulp, “oh I dunno
mate,” he said picking up a DVD and looking at the back, “ooh Sylvester
Stallone” Lewis continued trying to change the subject, Connor snatched the DVD
from his hands, “dude what the hell?” Lewis
snapped, “pay attention bitch, got any ideas on what I can say?” Lewis looked at him and sighed, “Oh I dunno pal, what
do you want me to say?” “oh you mopey git, forget it I’ll figure it out on my
own” he said walking back up the aisle, Rob looked at Lewis from across the
aisle, “now you’re in a pickle aint ya” he said to him, Lewis threw the DVD at
case at him and walked off, “dude, come on, uncalled for much?” Rob sighed picking up the DVD case, “ooh Sylvester Stallone

Lewis and Lily were sat in the
front staring at the full, bright moon shining through the front of the car, as
they sighed frustratingly at the loud singing and the odd splash of liquid to
the back of the neck that came from the back of the jeep, “I’m so sorry” Lewis
said to Lily, “It’s okay, It’s not your fault” she said resting her head on her
hand. Half an hour past and there was silence from the back, Lewis turned
around to see Rob, Ritchie, Connor, Grace, Megan, Herbie and Bella all led down
across each other in the back passed out, “thank fuck” Lewis sighed to himself,
Lily suddenly awoke from her slumber inhaled heavily, “oh sorry I didn’t mean
to wake you, go back to sleep” Lewis said to her, “nahh I’m awake now” she
said, there was an awkward silence between them before Lewis broke it, “do ya
think we could finish a conversation without getting interrupted now?” he said
as he slowly stopped the jeep, she giggled and grabbed his shirt and pulled him
towards her and kissed him for a few seconds, “has that finished our
conversation?” she said biting her lip, “I certainly hope not” he grinned, Lily
smiled and then continued kissing him. A few moments past when from the back
came a voice “Well, well, well” Lewis and Lily both stopped and turned to look
at Rob who was smiling whilst nodding his head, “what’s going on here then” he
asked again, “whatever you do you can’t tell Connor about this?” Lewis quickly replied, “why not?” Lily asked giving
Lewis a puzzling look, “well Connor kinda told me that he likes you” Lewis
answered, “oh” Lily replied looking back at Rob, “Don’t worry your secrets safe
with me” Rob said with a wink as he rolled back over into the little bit of
space he had between the others, Lewis turned back to start the jeep again,
five minutes passed, before Lewis broke the silence, “I really like you, It’s
just Connors one of my best mates” Lewis said looking across to Lily who was
staring out her window, she turned to him “don’t worry, I like you too” she
said with a smile, she then rested her head on her hand and went to sleep
leaving Lewis smiling to himself as he drove on down the pitch black road.
After a few hours, Lewis suddenly felt his eyes shutting on their own, he could
hardly keep them open so he was about to pull over when he saw a sign saying
‘services 2’ so he decided to continue driving and to stop in the services, so
he forced his eyes open for the two miles until he took the left turning up
into a service’s car park, he didn’t even bother to park the car, he just
pulled up next to the entrance into a large glass roofed building, he stepped
out of the jeep and walked inside the service entrance, he walked in and saw a
large coffee lounge to his right and a newsagents to his left, he walked over
to coffee bar and jumped over the counter and grabbed a plastic cup and filled
it with coffee from the machine behind, “ouch, shit!” he moaned as the burning
hot coffee burned his top lip, he walked back around towards the newsagents
when he spotted a male toilet sign around the corner to it, he put his coffee
down on the floor and walked to the toilets, he opened the door and walked up
to the urinal, a few seconds passed when he heard the entrance to the toilet
entrance door slowly open, he quickly ran to the cubicle and stood on the
toilet, he could hear groaning getting closer to him, he lowered himself down
looking underneath the cubicle door, he could see to bare feet, one was on its
side with a bone poking through the side, he waited for it to be stood directly
in front of the door and he quickly stood up and kicked the door straight
through, knocking the undead man flying into the sinks behind, he ran to the
entrance to the toilets and quickly opened it to see two men stood bleeding
from the mouth staring at him, he quickly dodged past them and ran back towards
the newsagents with the two undead men following him, he turned around to see
the one man kick over his coffee “you bastard” Lewis mumbled as he ran for the
exit, he ran back to the jeep and quickly jumped in, he started the jeep and
reversed back down the car park and waited for the two undead to come running
out, both of them charging towards the jeep, he slammed down the acceleration,
and drove straight towards them and he ploughed straight through them and
running them over, waking up everyone in the process, “what the hell are you
doing?” asked a very grumpy Ritchie, “Oh sorry guys, ran into some trouble” He
replied reversing back over the two men, “just making sure” He said as everyone
in the back leapt in the air. He stopped the car and looked to the back, “how’s
your heads, not such a smart idea to drink that much now was it” Lewis said with a smug facial expression, “oh piss
off!” Connor replied rubbing his forehead roughly, Lewis laughed loudly whilst
stepping out the jeep, he walked around the opposite side and opened Lily’s
door holding out a hand, “thanks” she said jumping out the jeep, they both
walked inside the service’s leaving the others still inside the jeep with the
baby still asleep in the hooded jumper, Lewis walked back over into the coffee
bar “You want anything?” he asked Lily who sat down on the burgundy Sofa
opposite the counter, “yeah I’ll just have a cappuccino” she said lying down,
“coffee it is” Lewis sighed not knowing how to make a cappuccino, Lily giggled
“that’s fine”, Lewis walked over the sofa next to one Lily was on, “I’ll be
right back, I need to use the toilet” Lily said standing up, she walked past
the newsagents stepping over the spilt coffee, Lewis was sinking into the sofa
trying to get comfortable, when he suddenly he remembered there was still a
zombie he left inside the toilets, a loud scream was heard echoing through the
whole service centre.

“So is anyone
gonna explain why there’s a baby back here?” asked Lewis looking behind him, “we
found him in a car we passed, he was crying, we couldn’t just leave him there
like that” Bella said cradling him, “nawr, he so cute” Lily said smiling at the
baby, Lewis and Connor looked at each other and rolled their eyes, “so where we
headin’?” Lewis asked leaning forward
over Herbie’s shoulder, “well...” herbie sighed, “as far away from this shit as
possible” he continued, “yeah, but I mean do you know a place where It’s safe
or...?” Lewis asked again, “nope, just gonna keep following the road” Herbie
answered, Rob reached forward and tried tuning the radio, “maybe there’ll be
some sort of emergency broadcast” Rob said turning the dial, the radio made a
crackling sound as he turned over multiple channels, but there was nothing,
both Lewis and Rob both sat back and tried to get comfy for the long journey
ahead. After about half an hour the sky started to turn dark red, “hey can we
stop a sec, I need a piss” Ritchie asked Herbie, “yeah, I could do with a break
as well” he replied as he pulled up on the middle of a small bridge, They all
got out to stretch their legs, Ritchie, Rob and Connor, walked to the end of
the small bridge, Lewis got out and leant over the edge of the bridge and
looked down in the stream below, he watched as a shoal of trout swam past,
Herbie walked up to him and also looked down at the stream, “you want me to
drive?” Lewis asked him, “yeah, if you
wouldn’t mind” Herbie sighed in relief, “it’s stressful, you know this whole
situation”, “yeah I know” Lewis
agreed, “what’s wrong mate” Herbie asked because of Lewis ’
tone, “oh nothing?” Lewis replied quickly, he couldn’t tell him that he was
constantly thinking of that moment with Lily, meanwhile back at the jeep, Bella
had taken her dancing teams hooded jumper off, and wrapping the sleeping baby
in it and placing it in the back of the jeep as she got out to stretch her
legs, Grace and Megan both walked the same way as Connor, Rob and Ritchie did,
Lewis walked back to the jeep and jumped in the front seat and rested his head
against the chair and closed his eyes, when the front passenger door opened and
in came Lily smiling, “hey you” she said closing the door, “you okay you look
down?”she continued, “yeah I’m fine, but about earlier, what was that about?” Lewis asked, “Well I just wanted to say thanks” she
replied, Lewis looked down at his
hands in disappointment, “oh so you didn’t mean anything serious?” he asked
trying not to show his disappointment, “not if you didn’t want it to?” she
replied looking straight into Lewis eyes, but before Lewis could answer her, Herbie
jumped into the back seat and stretched out his whole body across the whole of
the seat and sighed loudly “ahh, that’s nice” both Lewis and Lily looked back
at him in disgust, “what?” he said looking at them puzzled, Lewis stormed out
in frustration, he walked over to the end of the bridge to see where the others
had gotten to, he stepped off the edge of the bridge to see the others, all the
other stood outside a small wooden shack, laughing and holding large dark
purple bottles, “what the hell is going on around here?” Lewis asked as he
approached the group, “hey, Lewy’ Lew, look what we found” Connor mumbled,
lifting up a bottle with three large XXX’s on, “some hillbilly booze” Ritchie
said laughing whilst finishing the last drop out of his bottle, the girls were
passing around two bottles laughing outrageously, “come on join in” Megan said
to Lewis leaning towards him, “as much as I’d love to drink some alcohol that
could actually have anything inside, I’m driving, so can you please hurry up
and get back to the jeep?” he sighed walking back towards the jeep, he could
hear the group laughing behind him. Lewis
sat back in the driver seat, where Lily
and Herbie were still in the same places, “It’s gonna be a long night” Lewis sighed rubbing his eyes, “why what’s up?”
Herbie asked, “you’ll see” he replied.
Teens & the end of the world Chapter 17
The terrified group slowly backed
up against the Black jeep that was still ringing loudly, “what do we do?!” Rob
shouted in panic, Herbie suddenly heard a rattling sound as he backed up
against the car door, he turned to see he had hit the metal railing, He quickly
picked it up and walked to the front of the jeep and threw it through the front
windscreen, he quickly crawled up the bonnet and used the railing to scrape
away the broken glass, “quickly open the door!” shouted Bella lifting the baby
out of the pram, Herbie crawled through the window and got in the back seat and
pulled the child safety lock up and threw the side door and the boot open,
Every one climbed in the back seat, except Rob who had followed Herbie through
the window, Bella and the baby ran behind the jeep and lifted the door up and
jumped onto a small seat on the left, Ritchie was last to get in but as he
tried to close the door behind a Tall, thin infected man with spiked hair, had
stood in the way, suddenly the whole jeep was surrounded by the undead, Ritchie
struggled to pull the door closed because the man had grabbed hold of the end
of the door, Herbie was searching the front of the jeep for anything useful, he
opened the sundial and out fell on his lap was a sandy yellow envelope with the
word ‘congratulations’ in rainbow coloured letters on, He quickly rushed to rip
the envelope open, then suddenly a group of the undead jumped on the bonnet and
started dragging themselves up it, Rob quickly pulled the rail that was still
in front of the windscreen and held it against the gap where the glass once was
blocking them from getting in, Herbie finally ripped open the envelope and he
grabbed the keys that were located inside, “Huh, I always thought these things
were fixed” Herbie said smiling and shaking the keys, “just hurry up and
fucking go!” Rob shouted at him, The undead had ripped the metal fence out of
Robs hands, Herbie quickly turned the keys and drove forward about 30 feet
before stopping just before hitting the side of the large clothing shop,
launching the 3 undead that were still clinging onto the bonnet straight
through the glass window of the shop, Herbie reversed back knocking over a
large group of undead, He drove back towards the path leading to the car park,
when suddenly they couldn’t see the end of the pathway because it was full of
the undead, hundreds of them running furiously towards them, “oh my god..” Grace muttered covering her mouth with her hand in
fear, “what do we do?” Rob asked Herbie who was just watching the horde get
more terrifying with every step, “we gotta go through em” he said as he moved
the gear stick forward, “are you nuts?!” Megan
snapped, but before she got a reply he slammed down the acceleration, and
headed straight towards the groaning and limping crowd of the undead. Blood
splattered all over the car as he forced his way through the uncountable number
of undead, “they just keep coming” Bella said looking out the back of the jeep
to see even more of the undead following behind, he continued to plough through
the undead until he reached the car park where he sped off as fast as the jeep
would go, he went back down the ramp and drove back down the road back towards
Lewis, Connor and Lily. Back at the smoking wreckage which had died down to
nearly nothing, Lewis , Connor and Lily were all sat down on the kerb, “they’ve been
gone a long time, do you think there okay?” Lily asked as she got up and looked
down the road, “relax, there fine, If I know herbie, he won’t let anything
happen to them” Lewis reassured her whilst putting his hand on her shoulder,
she looked down and smiled, “I hope your right” she said looking back down the
stretch of road, Lewis walked back over to Connor who was still sat twiddling
his thumbs on the kerb, “she’s nice aint she” Connor said to Lewis, “who?”
Lewis asked confusedly, “Lily, I think I like her” he continued, Lewis didn’t
have the heart to tell him what had happened between him and Lily, “oh I don’t
think it’s a good idea to be getting close to anyone at a time like this mate”
Lewis said trying to stop Connor from planning on trying anything with her,
“yeah, I guess that makes sense” Connor smiled, Lewis sighed in relief, “hey
Lewis, Connor look a car” Lily shouted back, Lewis and Connor stood up and
started waving their hands in the air, from over the top of the road came a
black jeep, “wait, what the hell?” Connor said holding his hand above his eyes
trying to reduce the glare from the sun, “oh no...” Lewis
sighed as he could see hundreds of the undead following about 50 feet behind
the jeep, “Its Herbie!” Lewis shouted
with excitement, The jeep stopped harshly in front of Lewis ,
Connor and Lily , “get in quick!”
Herbie shouted through the windscreen, They rushed to the back door on the
left, they all squashed up in the back with Connor closing the door behind him,
“is that a fucking baby?!” Connor asked as he looked to the back of the jeep,
“we’ll explain everything when we lose all of those things behind us” Herbie
replied as he sped down the road as fast as he could, leaving the following
undead miles behind.
Teens & the end of the world Chapter 16
Meanwhile, Herbie and the rest
came across a left turn of the main road, “do we continue or turn left here?”
Ritchie asked, “I say left” said rob, “we can always come back if it’s a dead
end” said grace, so they set off down a new road, looking in all the abandoned
cars to see if they had the keys in, which led to sign that Ritchie read aloud,
‘New inn, one and a half miles’, oh well at least we know there’ll be supplies
or even a town there” he reassured the group, “I’m so hungry” Grumbled Bella
rubbing her stomach, “yeah, we all are” Herbie sighed putting his hands in his
pockets, Then as they approached a dark green ford fiesta they could hear
crying, they all looked at each other in wonder, and Ritchie said “you lot stay
here I’ll go check it out” he slowly walked about ten feet around the car
before looking into the back left window, when another scream was heard, “Oh
shit shit shit shit shit!” he said rapidly whilst putting his hands on his head
and turned around, “what? What is it?” asked Megan ,
“come take a look for yourself, shit!” he replied rubbing his chin leaning
against the car door, they all ran up to the green ford fiesta, “oh for god’s
sake” herbie sighed, Bella leaned into the car and there was a clicking sound
was heard, she pulled out a 6-7 month year old baby wearing a bright blue baby
grow, she cradled it to stop it from crying, “what are we supposed to do now?”
Rob asked, “well there’s only one thing we can do, and that’s take him with us,
until we can find a safe place or someone who can look after him properly”
Herbie replied with a look of anger on his face, “we couldn’t of found him at a
worse time” he continued, “come on let’s keep going, we don’t know if Lewis and
Lily are still okay” Bella said hastily, so the group continued walking down
the road. They reached the end of the road which opened up into three pathways
all leading into different parts of a small town, They took the middle path
which led up a ramp into a large car park which was packed with cars that were
crashed into each other from all directions, “this doesn’t look promising”
Ritchie sighed as they reached the top of the ramp, “first things first let’s
sort out the baby’s need’s, does anyone know what a baby needs?” he asked,
there was pure silence with not even a murmur, “of course you don’t” he sighed,
they walked on a path that was to the left of the car park where there were
shops on the right hand side, they passed by a supermarket which had writing on
the window, it read ‘take what you need and good luck!’ “ok guys, straight in
straight out” herbie demanded, “take what we need and that’s all” he continues.
They split up and went to an aisle each. Bella found the baby supplies on the
right aisle and picked up a dark purple pram and placed the baby boy into it,
she picked up clothing, baby food, and bottles, she put them in the pouch
underneath the pram and continued to the end of the aisle where she met Rob
looking at the newspaper, ‘vaccines create global pandemic’ the cover story
read, “oh hey, I didn’t see you there” rob said to Bella, “nice wheels, did you
get the supplies for him?” he asked, she smiled “I got the essentials” she
replied picking up a gossip magazine, “ooh Justin Beiber releases new song,
shame I’ll never hear it” she said with disappointment in her voice, Rob rolled
his eyes at her “yeah... shame” he sarcastically replied and continued reading,
until he remembered Herbie’s instructive orders “ come one we should probably
get going and they walked down the end aisle scanning each shelve carefully,
picking up the odd thing or two like chewing gum, They saw the rest of the
group stood outside the store waiting for them, They got outside and saw
Ritchie with a large mountaineering back pack, “we all done?” Herbie asked
already knowing the answer he continued walking down the path, looking into the
shop windows they passed, Then they approached a large statue of a man riding a
horse, in the centre of the town, there was also a large sign that read ‘WIN
THIS CAR!” to the left of the statue, they got excited reading this, so they
rushed around the corner of a large clothing shop they could see, a jet black,
recently painted, jeep with a lightning bolt down the bonnet parked inside small metal fences circled
around it, “what are the odds the keys aren’t in their?” Rob
said with a slight grin, “Well let’s take a look shall we?” Herbie said walking
up to the jeep, the windows were tinted black so they couldn’t see inside, the
pulled at the door handle, “surprise surprise, its fucking locked, just our luck”
he said as he banged his fist against the window, which set of a very loud
alarm, he raised his head as fear ran through his veins, suddenly they could
hear groans from the distance, a few seconds passed and they could see the
infected coming from all directions, they were all stood still in terror, not
knowing what to do or how to escape.
